74-Year-Old Woman From Florida Bravely Fights Off An Alligator To Save Her Dog

74-Year-Old Woman From Florida Bravely Fights Off An Alligator To Save Her Dog

Paquita Gillis November 7, 2021

Dogs will always do what’s necessary to save their humans from danger. And some humans will be more than glad to return the favor.

There’s one woman from Florida who greatly exemplifies this.

Suzan Marciano, a 74-year-old Florida denizen, heroically saved her pup named Nalu when an alligator attacked her. Here’s Suzan and Nalu’s incredible story:

Danger interrupted Nalu’s playtime

Suzan had been playing fetch with her Golden Retriever mix by the lake when she saw a dark figure coming towards where the dog was wading. Upon closer inspection, the old woman realized that the shape was actually an alligator, which measured six feet in length. Suzan said that her heart dropped upon seeing it.

But Suzan knew she had to do something. As the reptile attacked Nalu, Suzan jumped into action by fighting it off and freeing the dog from the gator’s jaws. She put all her weight down the giant reptile.

She said that at the moment, she wasn’t being rational. She emphasized that she did the only thing that she could do.

Although Suzan was able to save the dog, she was wounded. The alligator created a large puncture in her hand.

Suzan and Nalu are safe now

After escaping from the water with Nalu, Suzan went to the hospital after her friend urged her to do so. The said friend said that Suzan must get a tetanus shot and have her injury checked up.

At the hospital, Nalu underwent a two-hour surgery to close the puncture wounds in her stomach and thigh. Suzan, on the other hand, received five stitches for her hand injury.

Now, Suzan and Nalu are healing from their traumatic experience. The almost tragic event has changed Nalu a bit. For one, she has become more subdued. The two also take shorter strolls around the neighborhood.

Nevertheless, the two managed to return to Burt Aaronson Park where the gator attack happened.
