Barbie, a Chihuahua, had spent an unknown amount of time in an enclosed place near the freeway. She didn’t have direct access to food or water and had to rely on food scraps from passing cars.
Many people wanted to rescue her, but she was so afraid of humans that no one was able to get her to safety until a woman named Toi Crawford noticed her.
Toi made the decision to assist the poor dog right away. She went to the freeway every day to get food and water for the puppy so he didn’t go hungry. She also spent a few minutes with it from time to time in an attempt to gain trust and eventually go near enough to touch it.
However, a few days passed and Toi realized she was no closer to saving the dog. As a result, she reached out to Hope For Paws, an animal rescue group. She is a major supporter and lover of the organization, and she felt that Eldad, the organization’s head rescuer, was the only one who could save the puppy.
Toi agreed to meet the rescuer where the dog was, and Eldad had his fellow rescuer, Loreta, join him. They investigated for all possible escape routes and secured them with movable plastic fencing once they arrived there. They planned and plotted out everything, leaving no space for error or the operation would be ruined.
Eldad was the one who originally approached the dog. However, because Loreta had the net, he instructed her to attempt to catch it first, while Toi remained on guard. The pup bolted as soon as he spotted them approaching.
With a few more attempts, Eldad was able to catch it with his snare, and Loreta was able to totally secure it with the net.
The terrified Chihuahua retaliated and tried to flee. She froze in dread when she realized she had nowhere to go. She initially believed she was in danger, and it took her some time to comprehend that the individuals in front of her were there to assist her.
Barbie was calmed down by Eldad, Loreta, and Toi. A driver got out of his pickup and ran near them while they were soothing her. He offered them a bottle of water and told them to give it to the puppy. It’s his way of helping them.
Barbie was soon adopted by her foster family, and she thrived in their care. The puppy, who had previously been afraid, was now ready for her new home.
