A young man from Irvine, California named Ubaldo Apolinar heard scratches on their front door one rainy morning. When he checked outside, he discovered a white puppy on their front doorstep. She was so small and cold that she sought refuge from the rain.
Ubaldo informed his parents of his discovery and requested permission to bring the dog inside. Sadly, they said no. Their landlord only permitted them to keep one dog, so they would be in trouble if they decided to get another.
Even though his parents begged him not to feed the puppy, this young man was unable to resist feeding the shivering, famished animal outside. He retrieved a cup of dog food and took it outside. When he approached, the puppy retreated slightly, but it was not long until he was able to pet her.
It was unknown whether the dog had been lost or abandoned on the neighboring road. She was a touch grimy, but she looked amazing overall. As a dog owner, Ubaldo was determined to locate the pup’s owner. He felt that she had one.
Ubaldo joined many Facebook groups in an effort to locate the dog’s owners. While he waited, he ensured that she was well-fed and clean.
When the rain eventually stopped in the afternoon, he and his sister played with her.
Ubaldo’s day was coming to a close, but he still had no leads on the dog’s owner. He intended to take her to the veterinarian the following morning to determine if she had a microchip and constructed a cardboard shelter for her. However, he could not quit thinking about her that night.
Ubaldo walked downstairs and snuck the dog inside after determining that his parents were asleep. To keep her quiet, he engaged in playful interaction with her and offered her an improvised sweater made from an old sock. Then, before the end of the day, he received a message from a potential owner.
Ubaldo researched the individual’s social media accounts and confirmed that she was the legitimate owner of the pet. The next day, he heard that the dog’s name was Bubba, and he’s delighted he assisted her in finding her way back home.
