These two dogs named Halo and Wish are making history for the dog world. Apart from being incredibly smart, the duo has set a Guinness World Record for the most tricks done by the two dogs in under a minute. Meanwhile, Wish also taken the record for the fastest five-meter crawl by a dog.
However, behind the accolades that Halo and Wish achieved is the reality that it was not done overnight. The two dogs spent several hours perfecting their craft through the guidance of their fur mom, Emily Larlham. Emily had already previously worked with and trained dogs, so she enjoyed training her two dogs.
According to Emily, she trains her Halo and Wish using progressive reinforcement training. Emily introduced this term to other dog owners, and the same has worked wonders for dogs through the years. Under this method, Emily uses positive words like “good” and “yes” to train Halo and Wish.
But more than the affirmative words, Emily likewise provides treats and clickers to Halo and Wish whenever they learn and achieve new tricks. For Emily, training Halo and Wish was not an easy challenge. This is because while Border Collies are naturally smart, the two dogs have different nuances from each other.
However, since Emily got used to training other dogs in the past, she already developed patience for this undertaking. For 15 years, Emily has trained several dogs and made them better dogs for their parents. But this is the first time that Emily engaged in an activity to break a world record. Fortunately, she and her two dogs emerged victorious from the challenge.
Emily shared that she is beyond proud of what Halo and Wish achieved this year. She then assured everyone that Halo and Wish would continue learning new tricks every single day.
