Starved Then Eventually Abandoned, Toby Fights For His Life, And He Asks For Help

Starved Then Eventually Abandoned, Toby Fights For His Life, And He Asks For Help

Paquita Gillis January 16, 2021

Let’s Adopt International founder Viktor Larkhill received an email message that needed an urgent response. Attached to the letter were photos of Toby. The poor dog was in a horrific state, and he must receive critical care, or it may be too late to save him.

Viktor quickly gathered his entire team. They drove straight to the rescue location, willing and ready to help Toby, no matter what it takes. But when they saw the dog in person, they couldn’t believe their eyes.

According to a few people, Toby belonged to a family before. But having a house doesn’t necessarily mean living in a home. His owners stopped feeding him, and he hasn’t received medical care for a very long time.

The poor dog spent years chained inside the yard. He couldn’t play or run. And eventually, he found himself out on the streets, alone and without a family.

Toby, a white Boxer mix, should weigh no less than 27 kilograms. But his skin pressed against his bones, and the rescuers believe he weighs 15 kilograms, at the most. Additionally, he has infected wounds on the lower half of his body.

Further tests also revealed that Toby has leishmaniasis, a chronic disease that caused his kidney to fail. His red blood cells are also very low. So to help him battle Malaria, he needed an immediate blood transfusion.

Toby suffered years of neglect. His condition is complicated, but he’s a resilient boy, and he wants to survive. Toby, however, couldn’t do it without help.

Let’s Adopt International reaches out to everyone to help Toby get better and have a second chance at life. He has a long road ahead of him. His treatment will take several months, but his rescue friends believe he can make it. Let’s help this sweet boy live a beautiful life.
