Let’s admit it; every single one of us fantasized about dogs helping out with the household chores. Maybe clean the house a little bit, shovel some snow, and maybe do some laundry. These scenarios are the stuff of dreams, but if you think about how far dogs have come, maybe the idea is not too crazy, perhaps in the future.
In the UK, one dog has proven that dogs doing chores isn’t such a crazy idea, because he helps his mom do her laundry. Well, he can’t operate the machine on his own, of course. But at least, he can help his mom put her clothes inside the tub of the machine.
This very helpful pup is Kevin. He was a rescue pup that was selected by the group, Support Dogs, to receive training to become a service dog. They saw his potential way before training even started, and boy were they right. Kevin turned out to be a very smart pooch that has a lot to offer.
According to his mom, Wendy Martin, Kevin does more than just help her with her laundry. For starters, Kevin can help remove her jacket and pull out her socks when coming home. Whenever she drops something, Kevin can pick it up for her. The pup can also open doors for Wendy, such a gentleman!
The 54-year-old has a spinal condition that requires her to move around in a wheelchair for the rest of her life. So having Kevin around makes her life a lot easier. Aside from picking up things and helping her with her clothes, the pup is also trained to activate her emergency button if necessary.
Wendy has divorced her husband, and she has four children who are no longer living with her. Just imagine if the pup is not there her. As Wendy explained, Kevin makes her feel independent again. It gives her peace knowing that she can do things on her own, with a little help from her furry friend.
