Neglected Pup Runs Away From Home And Finds The Love And Life He Had Long Yearned For

Neglected Pup Runs Away From Home And Finds The Love And Life He Had Long Yearned For

Paquita Gillis September 15, 2023

Emerson is a little white dog that endured years of neglect from his owners. He did not receive any medical or dental treatment, resulting in multiple health conditions. The poor pooch was in so much pain that he eventually decided to run away from his home.

This decision proved to be the start of his journey to a better life.

Rotten teeth and sloughed skin

When Emerson was found as a stray, he was immediately taken to the local shelter. The staff was shocked to see his condition. They knew that he was owned by someone as the pup had a tag. But when they called his owner, they showed no interest in having their pet back.

The dog’s traumatic past instilled a lot of fear in him. he was deathly afraid of anything that moved. He kept to his kennel, cowering whenever he saw someone pass by.

A vet looked at the dog and noted that he only had a few teeth left. His fur, or what was left of it, was terribly matted. It was so bad that it caused the skin on one leg to detach from his muscle. The large wound got infected, and they were unsure if the leg could be saved.

Sadly, they had to amputate.

A new home

A rescue organization heard about Emerson’s story, and they helped him find a new home. While doing so, they took him out of the shelter home and placed the pooch with a foster family. Fortunately, Emerson didn’t have to stay there long.

Emerson was adopted by an animal lover who owns a small farm. His new mom owned several dogs as well as other farm animals. Within weeks of living there, Emerson’s zest for life started to grow again.

He had found a great owner who showed him so much love and attention. It also helped that he now had a lot of siblings to play with. Emerson never has to worry about being neglected ever again.
