Mixed-Breed Dog Lives Alone In An Abandoned Trailer After Senior Owner Passed Away

Mixed-Breed Dog Lives Alone In An Abandoned Trailer After Senior Owner Passed Away

Paquita Gillis March 8, 2022

Klaus is a large brown dog that lived in a trailer with his senior owner. The trailer is parked in a large empty property outside Los Angeles.

The old man had no other relatives, and he spent most of his time with his pet. Unfortunately, though, the man was taken to a hospital when he fell seriously ill.

He never came back. From then on, the loyal dog waited for his owner to return. He stayed by their old trailer, never wandering too far.

A worker employed in the adjacent property saw him every day and tried to feed the lonely pooch. But Klaus was too scared to go near the kind employee. So the man eventually decided to call for help.

Set a trap

Two rescuers from a California-based dog rescue organization went to save the dog soon after. As the lot was empty, they saw the dog right away. He was sitting underneath the trailer to get some protection from the hot sun. One of the rescuers slowly walked up to him, and he could see that the dog started to get fidgety.

The rescuer threw some food at Klaus, but he refused to eat them until he backed away. Noting that the dog could run if they became aggressive in their rescue, the two-man rescue team decided to just set a trap. They brought out a large cage, left some food inside, and walked away from the property.

On to a new life

Watching from behind the metal fence a good distance away, the rescue team eagerly waited for the dog to go inside the trap. After about half an hour, Klaus wandered in and got caught. With the help of the man who called them, they carried the cage and its resident inside their vehicle.

The rescuers brought Klaus to an animal medical facility where he was cleaned and given a medical check-up. Thankfully, he didn’t have any health problems. Klaus was moved to a foster home where he has learned how to trust people again. It didn’t take a long time for him to come out of his shell.

Klaus is now waiting for a new forever family.
