Man Joyously Reunites With Pooch Feared Dead In CA Camp Fire

Man Joyously Reunites With Pooch Feared Dead In CA Camp Fire

Paquita Gillis January 18, 2020

Michael Frey owns two dogs he named Taxi and Maggie. In 2018, a fire from a camp struck California and heeded to the direction of Frey’s house. Frey and Taxi were out of their house when the fire broke out. Frey’s other dog Maggie, however, was left at home.

As soon as he received a word about the fire, Frey immediately contacted a neighbor. He asked if the neighbor could break into his house and save the pooch. The neighbor, however, was too anxious about the fire, so she was not able to fulfill Frey’s request.

From then on, Frey knew that it would be impossible for Maggie to survive. There was a thought in Frey’s mind that he would not see the pooch alive again. But Frey’s fears were proven wrong as the dog survived the ordeal.

According to Frey, while he was hopeful about Maggie’s safety, he already accepted the worst scenario. One day, while Frey was surfing the internet, he saw a photo of Maggie. He could not believe what he saw because Maggie survived the incident.

Frey immediately contacted the uploader of the photo, and he learned that Maggie indeed survived the fire. Frey was informed that the smart pooch took refuge in a nearby cemetery while the flames of the fire spread. A police officer then saw the pooch and decided to take her under his custody.

Maggie was then transferred to San Francisco’s Animal Care and Control to get checked for possible injuries. It was not only Maggie who got saved. Nine other dogs were survivors of this California fire.

A month after the incident, Frey and Maggie had an emotional reunion. It was Frey who got too affected after seeing the pooch for the first time after the fire. He was so thankful that his beloved pooch survived.
