Dogs are known to be devoted companions of humans. When they form a bond with a person or another creature, it is usually the beginning of a lifelong friendship. Dogs will become depressed if they are separated from the person or animal with whom they have formed a bond with.
Merrill, a Pit Bull, and Taco, a Chihuahua, were both rescue dogs who were surrendered to Rocket Dog Rescue in San Francisco. Although little is known about the two canines or their history, staff and volunteers at the animal shelter instantly spotted something unusual about them.
Merrill and Taco were adamant about not leaving each other’s side. When Rocket Dog Rescue employees and volunteers separated them, Taco and Merrill would weep incessantly, attempting to find each other.
They needed to be together and it’s really difficult to get people to adopt both of them.
The bond between Merrill and Taco is so strong that it was impossible to separate them. For them to thrive, they needed to be adopted together in one home. However, there aren’t many people who are willing to adopt two dogs at the same time.
Fortunately, a guy visiting the animal shelter in search of a dog fell in love with Merrill at first sight. Merrill, on the other hand, has already bonded to the tiny Chihuahua that shares her kennel. The two dogs started crying when the man removed Merrill out of their kennel.
The man was perplexed until the staff explained that Merrill and Taco were connected dogs. The man was well aware that the two dogs needed to be adopted together, and he didn’t want to break Merrill and Taco’s hearts. Unfortunately, the man could not afford to acquire two dogs and opted against Merrill’s adoption.
Merrill and Taco’s story was shared on social media and on the shelter’s website by the staff and volunteers. The story became viral and eventually reached a San Jose, California household. Merrill and Taco were both adopted by the family after they fell in love with each other.
The two dogs have finally found their forever home, and everyone at the shelter is overjoyed. Merrill and Taco’s family made certain that the two canines were always together, and ensured that Taco’s medical problems were also addressed.
The two dogs are now happily residing with their new family in their new forever home.
