As dog owners, you know how precious dogs are, and you consider them as part of your family. For dogs, they also consider their owners as their family and will do anything to protect them from harm. Most dogs will even risk their lives to protect their family.
A dog named Che is one of the dogs who would risk their lives to protect their owners. Che is a 14-year-old dog who was adopted from a shelter. During the middle of the night, a fire broke out of where Che lived. His owner, Andrea Bulat, tried to escape the blaze but firefighters speculated that she passed from lack of oxygen and smoke inhalation before making it outside to safety.
Neighbors heard Che barking nonstop, and when they looked at the house to investigate, they saw smoke coming out of the house and immediately called the fire department. The firefighters responded quickly and were able to get Che and Andrea out of the building.
What’s surprised them was how they found Che and his owner. They were both unconscious and found Che laying on top of Andrea to shield her from the flames. Thankfully, the firefighters arrived early and were able to take Che and Andrea out of the burning building.
In addition to that, the neighbors hailed Che as their hero and saved their lives. If it weren’t for his barking, they would’ve been oblivious to the fire, which could potentially spread to their homes.
Both Che and Andrea were taken to the hospital to be treated for burns and smoke inhalation. After a week of treatment for smoke inhalation, Che is well on his way to complete recovery. While his owner, Andrea, is still recovering from burns and smoke inhalation, Che stayed with Andrea’s friend.
People donated money to help pay for Che and Andrea’s medical expenses. The neighbors are more than thankful for what Che did for them and will forever be grateful for saving their lives. Here’s a video telling how Che saved not only his owner’s life but also the lives and properties of their neighbors.
