Sometimes, you’ll wonder if the people who leave their pets behind actually have a heart. Thankfully, there are some kind individuals who are willing to help these abused animals.
A tiny Pomeranian was left in a crate on the side of the road in Dedham, Massachusetts. The pup was immediately rescued and prepared for adoption.
The roadside pup
The officers of the Dedham Police Department found the Pomeranian inside a crate with a sweater and a blanket. The dog was technically in a dangerous situation, as the temperatures on the day he was found rose to 90 degrees. The poor Pomeranian didn’t have any identification, and nobody contacted the authorities to report a missing pet.
The police department estimated that the dog, who was temporarily named Buzz, was between three and five years old. Deni Goldman, an officer for Dedham Animal Control, said that what made the case worse was the fact that the dog was left with no water in the middle of a heatwave.
Officer Goldman told the press that it was unclear how long the dog was left on the roadside. But it was possible that Buzz was found shortly after his abandonment since he didn’t display any signs of dehydration or serious heat exhaustion.
Buzz is now under the care of an organization called Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL). He has already received a comprehensive vet exam, vaccines, and the care he deserves. Buzz will be put up for adoption once all the tests are done.
Bringing justice for abandoned animals
The Dedham Police Department mentioned in a statement that it would exercise its investigative means to bring justice for abused, abandoned, or neglected animals. At the same time, the department also shared that communities in Massachusetts have the resources to support people who can no longer take care of their pets.
