You often see different species hang out with each other when you are at a sanctuary. These animals have become so accustomed to each other’s presence that they’ve forged strong friendships with one another. Some animals, however, value their personal space, especially when they are grooming. One such animal is Stella the Labrador.
The guardian of the wombats
Stella is a resident at the Sleepy Burrows Wombat Sanctuary. The Labrador guardian was bred and raised to look after baby wombats. She is fully aware of her role in the sanctuary. Stella understands the behavior of these wombats, and she knows how to act when she is around them.
Stella does not mind at all when these funny looking dogs approach her to hang out with her. The baby wombats see her as their older sister, which is something she enjoys. In return, Stella treats these baby wombats as her younger siblings.
A test of patience
Out of all the baby wombats in the sanctuary, there’s one that enjoys hanging out with Stella the most. This baby wombat’s name is Yhi, and she loves being around Stella. She also volunteered herself as the Labrador’s assistant during grooming time. No one asked Yhi to do it; she just went on and helped the confused Labrador.
