Very Patient Woman Finally Rescues Pit Bull After Three Weeks Of Rescue Attempts

Very Patient Woman Finally Rescues Pit Bull After Three Weeks Of Rescue Attempts

Paquita Gillis December 7, 2019

Even in today’s society, we still see a lot of stray dogs wandering our city streets. Most stray dogs were abandoned by their previous owners, and they generally don’t have good experiences with humans. This is why most stray dogs stay away from people and will try to avoid them no matter who they are.

A woman named Lisa Chiarelli was driving around the city when she spots a large pit bull-type dog looking lost. It was wandering around a pile of garbage on the side of the street and seemed gentle. Lisa tried calling for the dog but ran away as soon as she approached the dog.

Lisa didn’t give up and drove back the next day on the same spot to look for the dog. She saw the stray dog again, and this time she was ready. Lisa had a bunch of treats to feed the dog, and she was able to get close enough to see that the dog was well-fed but looked as if her previous owner abandoned her.

On the third day, Lisa attempted to capture the dog with a dog trap. Unfortunately, the dog trap failed. The dog cautiously entered the dog trap, but the door slammed against the dog’s back foot, which prevented the locking mechanism from working. The dog escaped, and Lisa was quite disappointed.

Because of what happened, the dog didn’t trust Lisa anymore. He wouldn’t come as close to her as before. Lisa visited the dog every single day. Shen even set up a feeding station where she would drop off food for the gentle but scared dog.

On the twenty-first day, Lisa and her friend decided to attempt trapping the dog again. This time, they made sure that the dog went all the way in until the trap door was released and locked. Thankfully, it worked.

Lisa named the dog Xena and took her to the veterinarian, where she had treatment. Lisa also spent some time with the dog to gain her trust. Lisa sat down on the floor, petting Xena and assuring her that everything will be alright. Xena became more relaxed and started to trust Lisa again.

Lisa made sure that Xena would feel loved every day she was with her. Lisa would cuddle Xena, and she made sure that Xena felt comfortable. It didn’t take long for Xena to give Lisa a little tail wag.

On the fourth day after being captured, Xena started jumping on Lisa and show her some love and give her puppy kisses. Lisa would always bring cheeseburgers for Xena, which is her favorite treat.

A month after Xena’s rescue, she was ready to get adopted. Lisa was almost done training her, and she reached out to some of her friends about Xena needing a forever home. One of her friends found a wonderful family who is interested in adopting Xena.

Xena’s new mom, Shelly, had a black pit bull before and immediately fell in love when she saw a photo of Xena. Xena did take some time getting used to her new home. On the first day, she was very reserved and shy. She didn’t know where she was and who the people around her were.

Xena eventually adjusted to her new environment. She figured out that it’s going to be her new home. After that, her sweet and loving personality came out. Here’s a beautiful video showing how Lisa rescued Xena. Not a lot of people would have the same patience as Lisa had. Lisa didn’t only patiently wait for three weeks to catch Xena, but she also spent more time rehabilitating her and teaching her to trust humans again.
