This Puppy That Got Hit By A Car Got Saved By A Kind Vet

Paquita Gillis May 7, 2020

When dogs get into critical accidents, it’s the vets that save their lives. Some clinics are willing to go the extra mile to make sure an animal gets treated. This is the story of Scooter, a puppy who got hit by a car and found an unexpected home.

Melody received a call from a rescue organization about a puppy that was hit by a car and abandoned. The dog was about to be euthanized because the rescuers can’t afford the surgery. This is where Dr. Jeff stepped in agreed to treat the injured puppy.

Since the dog is miles away, the vets asked for help from pilots who loved animals. One of them was willing to transport the puppy for free. Don was the pilot who flew all the way to Oklahoma to get the puppy named Scooter.

Dr. Jeff immediately got Scooter an x-ray. He saw the broken bones and how one of the ball sockets in the dog’s hind leg was detached. It was clear that the dog needed surgery as soon as possible.

Scooter went under anesthesia, and the vets got him ready for the surgery. Dr. Jeff needs to work quickly on Scooter to avoid further complications. The way the bones are broken made it harder for Dr. Jeff to remove what he wanted to remove, but he eventually got the broken ball part of the socket joint.

According to the vet, a scar will fill in the gap. Also, as long as Scooter remains mobile, his leg will work just fine after healing. They were even surprised that Scooter was able to stand up only a few days after the surgery.

After two weeks, Scooter got an unexpected visitor. Don was the pilot who transported him to the clinic. He is now back and is interested in adopting him.

Don knew during the flight back to Denver that Scooter was special. It was his first time transporting an injured dog, and the experience moved him. Scooter is now in good hands.
