This Dog Escaped From A Veterinary Clinic And Was Only Found Two Months After It Ran Away

Paquita Gillis November 18, 2023

When a rescued dog escapes from its enclosure, animal rescuers are expected to look for the dog as quickly as they can. Otherwise, that dog might stray too far, and it might get into an accident. For example, there was one incident where a dog named Kambo ran away while being treated at a veterinary clinic.

Kambo used to be a stray dog, but there was one woman who kept feeding him whenever they crossed paths. That woman later became his foster parent after he was rescued. She did everything she could to help Kambo, including bringing him to a veterinary clinic for his heartworm disease to be cured.

Unfortunately, Kambo escaped from the clinic while still wearing an Elizabethan collar. The cone around his neck put him at risk of getting into accidents, such as getting stuck in tight spaces. With that in mind, her foster parent and several animal rescuers went to look for him.

Eventually, the animal rescuers found Kambo after two months of searching. The cone he was wearing made him easy to spot. Hence, many people were able to inform the rescuers about Kambo’s whereabouts.

The animal rescuers set up traps and barricades along Kambo’s path. Doing so made rescuing the dog easier and prevented him from eluding his rescuers. That’s why they didn’t take long to spot Kambo and trap him in a corner.

After Kambo was rescued, he was again sent to a clinic where a vet removed his collar. He was also given medication to treat heartworms. Then after a few days of resting at the clinic, he was sent back to his foster parent.

To make sure that Kambo would not try and run away again, his foster parent asked a dog trainer for help. The trainer taught the foster parent several ways to bond and connect with the dog. After all, if Kambo felt deep love and friendship with his foster parent, he would feel no need to run away.
