Pit bulls have this sad reputation for being violent and deadly. Many people avoid Pit Bulls due to this stereotype, which the Pit Bull in this video is out to disprove.
A Pit Bull was spotted alone in the yard of a house in an Oklahoma neighborhood. He was terrified and would growl at strangers. The dog was always alone, according to a concerned neighbor. As a result, the neighbor decided to help and dispatched Unchain Oklahoma, a group of animal rescuers, to the site.
When the rescue team came, they discovered that the house had been left open. The floor was covered with unsealed dog food packs. Some of the residents’ things were still there, but they were nowhere to be found.
They also discovered that the previous residents had moved after the husband was arrested on narcotics charges. The Pit Bull in the yard, Brutus, was abandoned.
Fortunately for the dog, the rescue group arrived in time. Melody and her husband, the neighbors who reported about the dog, assisted them in socializing the formerly fearful Pit Bull. He was usually attentive to commands. He was a breeze to teach.
The Unchain Oklahoma team spent more than a year with Brutus. Everyone who encountered the gentle giant could tell he was unique. Despite his sweet demeanor, no one was interested in adopting him.
That is, until he met Jason, a 2-year-old boy. Brutus had been adopted by Jason’s family.
Jason’s mother, Amber Bragg, said that Brutus smacked her in the face as she was sleeping one night and woke her up during his first week in his new home. After that, he led Amber to Jason, where she discovered that her son was having a seizure.
Brutus, it turns out, has a special skill that senses when Jason is going to suffer from a seizure. When the 2-year-old was experiencing another seizure, Brutus grabbed him by the collar and began barking for Amber. He picked up all of these skills without any formal training.
When Jason is with Brutus, Amber believes he is in better hands than when he is with anybody else. Amber also believes that Jason would not be running around and playing as he is able to do now if it weren’t for Brutus.
Brutus has been certified as a therapy dog by the Bragg family, and he will soon begin working with nursing facilities in Oklahoma.
