Stray Pup Saves Orphaned Kittens During A Cold Winter Night

Stray Pup Saves Orphaned Kittens During A Cold Winter Night

Paquita Gillis June 8, 2021

An unnamed woman was driving on her way home when she spotted a stray dog curled up helplessly on the side of a highway in Ontario, Canada. The lady recalled the weather was particularly freezing, and the winds were harsh that night, but she knew she had to pull over to rescue the poor pup.

The woman saw the stray female pooch shivering in the cold and wondered why the dog stayed where she was despite having the capability to find a warmer place to spend the rest of the freezing night. However, it turns out that the pup was curling up on the ground because she was keeping five kittens warm.

The good Samaritan immediately contacted the Pet and Wildlife Rescue for urgent assistance. The animal control eventually arrived at the dog’s location and drove to the shelter to keep all six animals safe and sound.

The shelter workers were amazed that such an incredible story of selflessness happened because the kittens would have immediately died had the dog chose to leave them alone. The rescue organization’s representative said that they have witnessed heartbreaking accounts happening daily, and the pup’s story makes every heartache worth the pain.

The shelter employees treated the dog and kittens for their fleas, ticks, and worms and were eventually placed for adoption a couple of months later. The selfless pup named Serenity quickly found her home after her story went viral while workers waited for the cats to be old enough to be adopted.

Serenity’s rescuers shared that she has brought a whole new meaning to foster mom because she protected a litter of animals that were not even her own. Serenity’s new owners were so touched by the story that they frequently visit the shelter so that Serenity could say hi to the kittens.
