For decades, people have seen Pit Bulls as vicious dogs that are a menace to society. Because of this myth, the majority of people have been scared of owning Pit Bull-type breeds. Even today, countless numbers of Pit Bulls are living in shelters and don’t get adopted just because of their breed.
Thankfully, increasing numbers of people are now advocating for Pit Bulls. Alicia and Tre Mathis are two of those people who want people to realize that Pit Bulls are nothing but gentle dogs who want nothing but love. Alicia and Tre’s love for Pit Bulls started when they received a text from a friend about a stray puppy that was wandering in their neighborhood.
When Alicia and Tre saw the puppy’s photo, they couldn’t believe how small she was. The couple also started to look for the puppy’s mom or her owners but no one was claiming the puppy. However, Alicia and Tre knew that the puppy needed help.
The puppy spent the first night with Alicia and Tre where she was fed and given a warm bed to sleep in. The puppy was fine until she had diarrhea, which kept Alicia and Tre up all night. The next day, Alicia and Tre took the puppy to the vet. Everyone at the vet’s office was charmed by the puppy and they even suggested a few names to call the puppy.
The vet told Alicia and Tre that the puppy was very lucky to have been found. They also learned that the puppy was only five weeks old and was severely underweight. She was too young to be away from her mom and she was in terrible shape with worms and other parasites in her tiny body.
Thankfully, the vet was able to treat Pumpkin, and Alicia and Tre settled on calling the tiny puppy, Pumpkin. It took a couple of visits more to the vet to get Pumpkin healthy again but she started recovering really well. Alicia and Tre also discovered that Pumpkin is quite photogenic and they started a social media account for her to advocate for the Pit Bull breed.
As Pumpkin was growing up, she became quite an ambassador for the Pit Bull breed. Although she can be quite active and playful, she’s very gentle and just loves meeting new people and making new friends. Pumpkin brings so much joy to Alicia and Tre despite having a rough start in life.
Pumpkin greets everyone with a kiss and she’s always up for treats and playtime. Thanks to Alicia and Tre, Pumpkin got her chance to be a part of a family. Here’s a heartwarming video featuring Pumpkin’s story and how she found her forever home.
