A group of joggers was running next to a railroad track in Vineland, New Jersey when they came across a pit bull tied to a tree. The dog looked severely emaciated, weighing only half of her ideal weight. It also appeared that she had injuries on her limbs and tail.
One member of the group called animal control to get some help.
The pit bull was rushed to a clinic for an emergency check-up. They found signs of abuse and neglect. After getting prescribed some medication, she was taken to the South Jersey Regional Animal Shelter. They named her Ladybug.
Similar case
When Ladybug arrived at the shelter, and a report was made, they realized that there was a similar case involving a chihuahua a week earlier. The small pooch named Coco was found in the same place. She was placed inside a cloth bag, and by the time she was rescued, the bag was filled with the dog’s own waste.
Coco underwent the same procedure. She went to a vet for a check-up then was taken to the group’s facility shortly after. The similarity in both cases prompted the authorities to question whether the two incidents were related. The cops have started an investigation on the matter and have even offered rewards for those that can share information that will lead to the perpetrators.
Better lives for both pups
Coco was not in the same terrible condition as Ladybug was. T adorable chihuahua was moved to a foster home where she easily fitted in and found love and happiness with her temporary family. She already has some people who expressed their intent to adopt her.
As for Ladybug, she has progressed nicely too. But her journey to full recovery will be a bit longer. She is also in foster care and will stay there until she is physically and emotionally ready to move in with a new family.
Hopefully, the authorities find the people who abused them and give the dogs the justice they deserve.
