Owner Finds Stolen Dog In Shelter Two Days Before He Was To Be Put To Sleep

Owner Finds Stolen Dog In Shelter Two Days Before He Was To Be Put To Sleep

Paquita Gillis May 10, 2021

For almost a year, Barry Gearhart would cry himself to sleep. This was after someone stole his best friend from the back of his pickup.

He raised the pit bull named Titan since he was a tiny pup, and through the years, they have forged a very strong bond.

Never give up

He was constantly worried that his dog might be mistreated. He shuddered at the thought that he might be suffering. It was all a big nightmare for him.

That’s why Barry never gave up looking for him. He never lost hope that he would find Titan and bring him back home. Even when one year passed, he would still try everything that he could to locate him.

Shelter

When Barry posted Titan’s missing poster on the Facebook page of a local dog group, he got the break that he was looking for. One of the members of the group, a volunteer at the local shelter, said that there was a dog in the shelter that looked like Titan.

The shelter dog was named Hank and he was about to be euthanized. He has been in the shelter for several months and no one was adopting him. Learning that Hank had only two days left, Barry rushed to the shelter to see if it was indeed his own dog.

And when he got there, things became emotional. Barry couldn’t help but cry when he saw that it was Titan in the kennel.

As it turned out, the pit bull was found as a stray and he was not in the best condition. The shelter staff cleaned him up, gave him treatments, and fed him well. They even put him in socialization classes so that he would become more friendly with people and get him adopted. But no one picked him.

Going home

His life was about to get to a tragic end but fortunately, Barry found him. The two are back together again and it was time to go home.

Thankfully, Barry’s love for his dog was so strong it didn’t allow him to stop looking. His persistence truly paid off.
