Generous Rescue Group Helps Crying Mom And Son Keep Their Pet Dog

Generous Rescue Group Helps Crying Mom And Son Keep Their Pet Dog

Paquita Gillis September 10, 2022

Carolina is a single mom who lives with her kids in Phoenix, Arizona. They have a pet – a black and tan dog called Maggie. The whole family adores their beloved pooch and tends to spoil her. Many of their precious moments in their home include the pup’s antics.

Unfortunately, after living in the same house for 13 years, Carolina was informed by her landlord that they must move out. She and her family were given 30 days to vacate the house. It wasn’t going to be easy as the housing market was very expensive, and not many of them would allow pets.

Give up the dog

Somehow, the resourceful single parent found a place that she could afford. It was also pet friendly. But because she had to pay a lot of expenses, including moving costs, she couldn’t afford to pay the additional pet deposit that her new landlord asked for.

She tried so hard to come up with the money, but she was already in a lot of debt. She was left with only two choices. She could either find another place and risk being homeless while doing so or surrender Maggie to a shelter. Keeping a roof over her children’s heads was her priority.

So they went to Arizona Pet Project, a nonprofit animal charity organization based in Phoenix. They adopted Maggie from the group five years before.

Keep the family together

Carolina went to the rescue group’s shelter facility along with his son. The two of them stood in the lobby, looking sad and gloomy. Carolina’s son clutched their dog close to his chest while tears flowed down his cheeks. The mom couldn’t help but cry as well.

A counselor from the rescue group saw them and asked the mom and son to share their story. After telling the counselor their dilemma, he told them not to worry. The rescue group gave them the money to pay for the pet deposit.

Carolina couldn’t believe it. She and her son were so happy. They were going to keep Maggie after all.
