Drug-Sniffing K9 Detected Illegal Drugs Mixed With Corn Flakes At The Port Of Cincinnati

Drug-Sniffing K9 Detected Illegal Drugs Mixed With Corn Flakes At The Port Of Cincinnati

Paquita Gillis April 6, 2021

We’re a little puzzled whenever people tell us that they’re not into doggos. If they have allergies, then that’s fine, but other than that, there aren’t any real reasons to dislike them. Our pups do so much for us, humans, and reading stories like Bico’s drug bust reminds us that we are fortunate to have them on our side.

Bico is a drug-detection dog who works for the U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the Port of Cincinnati. A day before Valentine’s Day this year, Bico and his handler were scanning several freight containers that came in from Peru. Bico sniffed the contents of the containers and then moved on to the next.

However, when the doggo came across a box that was marked as “cereal,” Bico alerted his handler. If there is only one tip that we should always keep in mind about our puppers, is that we should listen when they are trying to tell us something. If you like reading doggo stories on the internet, then you know what we’re talking about.

The CBP officers then opened the huge box and it contained several boxes of Corn Flakes. At first glance, it just seemed like normal cereal boxes, but knowing Bico, they knew something was up. They opened one of the cereal boxes and saw the flakes were “frosted” with a grayish substance.

They had the cereal tested, and when the results came back, Bico was right! It was 44-pounds of Corn Flakes covered with cocaine from South America. The officers claimed that the illegal substance was worth three million dollars if it made its way into the streets.

The drug shipment was headed to Hong Kong, and the CBP was happy to foil this huge operation. The CBP administration lauded the officers that were on duty that day, and of course, they also congratulated Bico for a job well done.
