When dogs come into our lives, they become an important part of it. Instead of treating them as mere pets, most of us treat them more like family.
Dogs, after all, are very loyal and loving and want nothing more than to spread love and happiness with their family.
When brothers Julio and Sam received an 8-week-old Great Dane back in 2012, they were ecstatic.
The dog, whom they named Duke, quickly became an important part of their family. Soon, Julio, Sam, and Duke became brothers.
They were so close that when they realized Duke went missing from their house on the eve of Christmas of 2013, they were devastated.
Everything happened so suddenly that they didn’t even know how he went missing.
Despite their efforts to find Duke, they couldn’t find him.
They even had him microchipped and registered, but there wasn’t any news about him at all.
On a fateful day, two years later, they would receive a phone call that would change their lives for the better.
David Walker, a local who hails from Navasota, Texas, was on the other line.
As it turned out, while David was out working on his ranch, he noticed a Great Dane sitting on his property. He has never seen the dog before, but when he approached it, the dog was very friendly.
Not knowing where the dog came from, David took him to a vet and had him scanned for a microchip, and fortunately, the dog was indeed chipped.
It was Duke!
After the phone call, Julio, Sam, and their family were on their way to meet David and pick up their long-lost family, Duke.
When they finally saw each other, it was as if Duke never left. He remembered his family and was very happy to see them. Duke’s constantly wagging tail says it all!
