Dogs, more often than not, find themselves in sticky circumstances from which they cannot easily escape. Fortunately, good humans will always come to their aid to save them.
In a park in Boston, a dog was stranded for almost three hours inside a storm drain. Multiple rescue teams had been dispatched to free the dog because his predicament was so tough to deal with.
Here’s the backstory on the dog.
Hubert, a four-year-old foxhound, was out walking with his walker one afternoon. However, the mischievous dog managed to get himself caught in a drain for over three hours. Hubert’s struggle lasted a long time.
Multiple rescue teams sprung into action after learning of Hubert’s precarious predicament and rushed to the area. However, there was a catch: the more rescuers called the dog, the more he backed up.
Hubert’s size, according to one of the workers, was also a problem. The family had rescued the dog four years ago, and he was a little overweight. And inside a 16-inch pipe, this large dog was crawling away from the rescuers.
The dog’s predicament was difficult, but the Boston Fire Department’s rescue firefighters devised a realistic and clever solution. They drilled holes in the pipe and inserted a camera to monitor the dog’s movements. A backhoe was utilized by the National Grid, which was also part of the rescuing effort, to push the soil past the dog.
Hubert was eventually found and rescued safely. It was immediately reunited with his relieved owners.
A member of the Boston Fire Department, Brian Alkins, assured the public that the dog was in excellent condition and was overjoyed to be out again.
Hubert, according to one of his owners, was extremely fortunate. The dog’s owners expressed their gratitude to the departments and groups that assisted them.
