A Cuddly Panda Is Spotted In China — Turns Out It Is A Dog

A Cuddly Panda Is Spotted In China — Turns Out It Is A Dog

A lot of people have a thing for pandas – who doesn’t? These critters are cute, cuddly, and they look mischievous.

What will you do when you happen to see a panda roaming the metro streets? Maybe, you’ll get rooted to the spot, and you may want to make a run for the panda. But then again, you may wonder what the panda is doing in the city.

Some people in China were surprised to see a panda being walked by a woman. But it was not a panda at all.

A dog with panda fur

The sight of the panda being walked on a leash in the city was captured on camera. But it had been revealed that the panda was actually a pooch that had been dyed black and white.

The dog was a Chow Chow named Mei Nu, which meant Pretty Girl. The owner of the dog named Yang Yan thought that his dog already looked like a panda, the reason he decided to make it look like a real one.

Mr. Yan said that he thought about this, and he only used natural coloring, which was harmless to animals. And because the dog was white, he dyed Mei Nu’s other parts black.

People were outraged

Obviously, people were outraged by the sight of the dyed dog. It was not the first time that people dyed their animals for cosmetic purposes.

Last year, a shop called Cute Pet Games pet café, was under fire after it dyed six dogs to look like pandas. Animal rights and welfare group PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals) was quick to condemn the action.

A representative from the organization said that using dyes on animals, especially on their fur, nose, skin, and eyes, always comes with risks. Animals must not be treated as tools for people to paint.

The café owner, however, responded by saying that the dye used was tailor-made for the dogs and 100% safe.
