One of the most sought-after events in one’s life is the birthday. It is an exciting time on the celebrant’s part because he or she gets the chance to honor the gift of life. In connection with birthdays, there are also gift-giving as well as gatherings on the side. But sometimes, birthdays do not equate to receiving things. This dachshund is living proof of this narrative.
Instead of receiving gifts for herself, this pooch named Pearl decided to give back to the community she belongs to during her birthday. The dog celebrated at the Carnegie Dog Park in Pennsylvania, where she conducted a dog food drive. Pearl’s intended beneficiary is the Animal Friends, a humane society in her locality.
This, though, is not the first time that the pooch held a similar event. According to the dog’s fur parents, Andrew and Brian, they make this drive a yearly event. Their main reason for holding such an event is to be a blessing for other dogs who are not as lucky as Pearl.
What makes this year’s celebration different is that it coincides with the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. This is why it was a challenge for the dog parents to hold the event. Even with this dilemma, Pearl’s birthday celebration became a success.
The dog was able to raise enough funds to buy dog foods for the animal shelter. With this, Pearl, along with her fur parents, delivered the goods to the Animal Friends. In a statement on Facebook, the animal shelter thanked Pearl for continuing the legacy even amid the pandemic.
The volunteers from Animal Friends are grateful for this yearly initiative that the dog holds. More than this, they wish the pooch more birthdays to come for her to help many dogs through her simple gestures.
