In February of this year, Diasozo Animal Rescue (DAR) received an urgent call for help. The rescuers learned that two terrified dogs, now named Margo and Jerry, hid under a bench outside a hospital in Central Greece. Concerned, Ermioni and Katerina rushed to the scene.
The ladies learned the dogs first appeared at the hospital a few days back. A lot of people saw them, but sadly, they waited for days before someone called for help. If not for the patient who spotted them from inside the building, DAR would have never learned of Margo and Jerry.
Despite receiving the call late at night, the rescuers knew they couldn’t wait until morning. They hopped into their rescue car and drove straight to the hospital. When they arrived, it was already past midnight.
Ermioni and Katerina searched the area and found the dogs sitting under a bench near the main entrance of the hospital. The poor animals shook uncontrollably because of fear. They didn’t know what the strangers wanted, so they hid and tried to avoid them.
Slowly, the rescuers approached. Before picking the dogs up, they assured them that they are safe. Then, they placed them in separate crates so they could bring them to the shelter.
The following morning, Ermioni took Margo and Jerry to the vet. The siblings had filthy matted fur, so the vet had to trim their hair and groom them. Additionally, they received medical care to make sure they are in good health.
That same day, the dogs left the clinic and went back to the shelter, where they will continue to receive treatment. Ermioni admits it isn’t easy caring for these animals. But no matter what it takes, she promises to provide everything Margo and Jerry needs.
The furry siblings are yet to be ready for adoption. They still fear strangers but are slowly learning to trust humans. Soon, they will learn what love means, and they’d be with their new forever families.
