Sometimes, the path to success isn’t as straightforward as we’d hope for it to be. It’s not easy, and it could test us a lot of times to the point that giving up has become a tempting option. We always remind everyone that no matter hard life can be, just keep on grinding because better days are just around the bend.
Take Kiah’s story, for example. This cute little pupper was left for dead; chained to a parking lot with a serious wound on her head. It was reported that somebody hit her head with a hammer. Fortunately, Kiah is a fighter, and she doesn’t hold grudges. She didn’t dwell on how she was mistreated, and she continued to live life.
Little did she know that her positive demeanor was about to bring her the biggest break in her life. UniversalK9’s Operations Director, Brad Croft, noticed how resilient the pooch was. UniversalK9 takes in rescue dogs and trains them to become police dogs, and they welcome any dog breed.
Instead of looking at what a dog’s breed entails, they are looking at the dogs’ personalities, and one of the most important characteristics they are looking for is confidence. Kiah, who just went through a horrible ordeal, acted as if nothing happened. Croft saw the pup was beaming with confidence and knew at that moment, that Kiah would do great as a police dog.
He was right, Kiah graduated top of her class and has become New York State’s first pit bull police dog. She has been partnered with Officer Justin Bruzgul, and her area of expertise is searching for narcotics and tracking of missing persons. But beyond her duty to law enforcement, she has become an ambassador for pit bulls all over the world. With the help of her partner, she is showing everyone that there is no reason to be afraid of pit bulls and that they deserve love just like any other dog.
