Two Border Collies, Halo and Wish, made history by setting a Guinness World Record: the most number of tricks done by two dogs in less than a minute. Aside from that, one of them, Wish, set the record for the fastest 5-meter dog crawl.
However, these things do not just happen overnight nor do they happen without doing anything. These dogs have to practice day in and day out. Emily Larlham, their fur mom, spends her life practicing with both Halo and Wish. She successfully trained them to become world record holders.
These two not only work hard, but they also love what they do.
On December 22, 2020, these two showed the world that they deserve to be record holders. They were able to do 28 tricks in less than a minute, including running in circles and high fives. Both of them ended on a high note by catching a toy and then playing with it for their reward thereafter.
Larlham has a specific training style for all her dogs, not just these two, called the Progressive Reinforcement Training. This training does not provide intimidation, both physically and psychologically.
Instead, she gives them treats and positive comments, such as “good” and “yes”, to train them without creating a fear in them.
Larlham has been training dogs for approximately 15 years now. She worked in a shelter as a caregiver, where she found her mentor that she learned a lot from. Following her footsteps, she also started training dogs and even created her style.
She is currently a Youtube superstar who shows her followers how to train dogs using her techniques and styles. Her videos on Youtube also feature all of her other dogs.
However, the two Border Collies make the most appearance.
