Dog parents teach their pups unique tricks and skills for different reasons. Some do it to showcase their training capabilities, while others just want to have fun with their doggos. But for Bogie, the motorcycle-riding dog, his dad taught him how to ride motorcycles simply because he loves his pupper.
The pup’s dad, Gilbert de los Reyes, shared that he taught his fur baby how to ride since he was a puppy. While the motorcycle was parked, Gilbert would scoop up the pupper and place him on the bike. This made Bogie familiar with the vehicle. And not long after, the dog dad noticed that the pooch would get excited every time he would start his motorcycle’s engine.
Bogie would even race him as soon as he started rolling, so Gilbert decided to take the pooch with him everywhere he went. This became their routine for the past 11 years, and because they ride together a lot, the dog dad made a customized helmet and for his pooch. Gilbert also makes his fur baby wear a pair of aviator sunglasses and a jacket to protect him from the weather.
Because of Bogie’s unusual skill, he became a local celebrity in the city of Imus in the Philippines, and the dog’s popularity somehow helps his dad’s business. Gilbert explained that motorcycle riders who come to visit his doggo buy items from his motorcycle shop.
Bogie is not only the shop’s mascot, but he is also a marketing professional, so to speak. But most importantly, the pooch is also Gilbert’s bodyguard. In 2014, a group of men tried to rob Gilbert, but luckily, Bogie scared them away. The pup does a lot of things for his human, this is why his dog dad considers him as his lucky charm, and he admitted that he wouldn’t know what to do without his doggo.
